The Divine Mercy devotion originated with the apparitions to St. Faustina of Poland. The image given by Jesus to St. Faustina features Our Lord with the words "Jesus, I Trust in You."

Among the powerful messages from Jesus in St. Faustina's diary is this sobering message: "He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146)."
